Job Type: Ground Worker / Maintenance Technician (Ref: WEB GW/TECH 2301)

Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

Working Pattern: Permanent – Full Time

Salary: From £21,438.00 per year

Technician 37.5 hrs per week £10.91 per hour. (Pay award due April 2023)

Full Job Description:

    Excavation and installation of bus stop poles and other street furniture is the main part of the duties. Additionally to carry out general labouring duties assisting technicians on site on a daily basis to clean, repair and maintain bus shelters and bus stops as and when required. You may at times be required to work in the warehouse to perform specific tasks. With training moving on to work alongside technicians and alone depending on the task. You may also be asked to operate tablet computers whilst onsite to record data about bus stops as the company makes use of electronic systems of work.

    You will from time to time be asked to work out of hours, for example when we have a call out to an emergency late in the day you may be asked to stay a couple of hours to complete a clear up operation. You may also be asked to work away from home over a 2 or more day period where the site is too remote to work from base. Hotel accommodation and food expenses will be provided in these cases.

    In house training will be provided to the right candidate in learning all aspects of skills in installations, cleaning, repairing, cleaning and maintenance all varieties of bus shelters and their associated parts. Training will also be give in the use of electronic equipment.

    On site assistance will involve travelling with one of our technicians and being taught the standards required in accordance with our method statements and health and safety policies in place.

    There will be a probationary period of up to 6 month to assess your progress. You will receive regular feedback on your performance.

    All offers of employment are on a 6 month probationary period monitoring :

  • Attitude to the position
  • Standard of cleaning
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Skills in basic repair/assembly duties
  • Timekeeping and attendance
  • The following would be an advantage though not essential :

  • A background in groundworks operations such as road works
  • Possession or a NRSWA (Street Works) card
  • A basic knowledge in the use of tablet computers / smartphones would also be preferable
